Bathroom Designs That Go the Extra Mile Regarding Style

July 13, 2016 — by Valeriya Vimon

After the bedroom, which I like to think is the holy space in the house where outsiders are rarely welcomed, my second favourite place is the bathroom. When it comes to relaxation techniques, spas and all the similar activities designed to make your mind and body turn off and rejuvenate completely, I have to say that I am not fond of visiting specialized facilities for the purpose. I don’t like sharing a space so special and of high meaning and importance with someone else. Instead, I decided to make my bathroom a spa of its own. With a little investment in some basic fancy stuff, I turned my bathroom into a real relaxing oasis. The best part: I did everything on my own starting by searching for bathroom products online.

Thanks to the rough battle for loyal customers, large manufacturers today have an online exhibit of their products and an opportunity for you to choose whatever you need and have it delivered to your door. I can’t even begin to explain how much that means to a person like me – constantly changing my mind, spending immense time on choosing and combining styles and colour on spot, and doing the math during all of it. Yes, choosing my bathroom products online played a huge part in making everything easier for this project of mine. While on the task to design a bathroom that will look like a small spa and emit luxury and style, I stumbled across a few great ideas featuring some really interesting elements.

For larger bathroom spaces – a freestanding bath

A freestanding bath is a great choice if you’re willing to create a luxurious bathroom with the bath in the focus point. These vary in shape and size, which means you can choose the one that most suits your needs and desires. Do you want a comfortable bath support so you can lay in water for hours? Or you want something more spacious so it’s also practical along with being eye-appealing and useful? Whatever the need, make sure the bath is white in colour; white colour symbolizes purity and calmness, so it’s most preferable for bathrooms. The freestanding bath would complement a fancy bathroom with a lot of marble in it, simplicity in the overall layout and most importantly – zero bathroom clutter. After all, we’re aiming for luxury here. Also, consider combining the bathroom basin by colour and material with the bath – it will contribute to the overall design scheme.

Fancy tapware

The tapware is also important here. It’s kind of an attention-catcher when you first enter the bathroom due to its shiny silver colour. Whether you go for a basin mixer or a bath mixer for your freestanding bath, a shower set or wall top assembles, the only thing you should pay attention to is that there are no plastic details included. Plastic has nothing to do with luxury and if you’re aiming towards that goal, you should avoid it by all cost.

And finally, the toilet

Same goes here – no plastic details! It’s an eye-sore in a bathroom with ceramics, marble floors, fancy mirrors and glass doors. Choose a small yet convenient toilet made of strong materials in a white colour. Again, the toilet is not the piece to play a colour game with. Your task should be to incorporate it perfectly in the overall ambiance, or to create a whole. That means your basic pieces should all be complied in material and colour in the first place.
